Green Thumb Program

The Highland Lakes Master Gardeners, a volunteer arm of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, are presenting free programs for the community especially for new gardeners or those new to the Hill Country as well as anyone that just loves gardening.  This series of classes is designed for basic knowledge of soil preparation, plant selection and care and can be enjoyed by gardeners of all skill levels and interests.  Master Gardeners will give these free classes relating to what should be done in your lawn or garden at that time of year as well as other areas of gardening interest.  Programs are held in Marble Falls, Burnet, Buchanan Dam or Kingsland.  Watch your newspaper for announcement of classes which are held on Saturdays at the Libraries.

We have some exciting programs starting in January, 2010.  Watch for Green Thumb classes this year on Saturday mornings at 10:30 am. Other programs will be on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday at noon. We will have programs on purple martins, Hill Country roses, propagation, vegetable gardening and Texas Tough Plants.  The next program ""All About Hill Country Roses" with Master Gardener Sheryl Yantis will show how to select the proper roses for easy maintenance, planting techniques and pruning.  Sign up to be reminded by email so you won't miss any classes. We will remind you about a week before these classes and other free events put on by the Master Gardeners and the Garden Club.  We know you will have a good time at these free classes and we hope to see you there.

Check out the Gardening Events Calendar for future Green Thumb Programs and other gardening activities.
